From Stratford Girls' Grammar School. For September 2027 entry the school is admitting girls born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016.
On the priority area: the circle is measured from the Fountain in Rother Street. The exact radius differs slightly between the schools drawing from that point, so get the figure for this school from Warwickshire School Admissions rather than assuming it matches a neighbour's.
Nobody can tell you the pass mark, and that is by design
Warwickshire does not publish a qualifying score in advance. A Committee of Reference sets two figures for each school, for each year of entry, after the test has been sat:
- the Automatic Qualifying Score, which puts a child in line for a place, and
- a lower Required Minimum Academic Standard, which governs the waiting list.
The Committee considers the aptitude of that year's cohort, the oversubscription categories and the number of places available, and allocates in line with the published admission number where it judges those children comparable to cohorts previously admitted.
So there is no target to prepare against. And the second figure is genuinely good news: a child below the AQS is not finished, because the lower standard governs the waiting list.
What 120 places actually means
This is the smallest Year 7 intake of the six Warwickshire grammar schools, and the number matters more than families expect.
A smaller intake means the ranked list is served less far down. Two schools can set a similar qualifying score and produce quite different outcomes simply because one admits 150 and the other 120. It also means fewer in-year vacancies later.
So treat a small intake as a competitive signal, not a cosy one.
Stratford's pair
Stratford has two grammar schools, drawing from the same point: Stratford Girls' Grammar School, and King Edward VI School for boys, which admits 87. Both sit in the southern priority area alongside Alcester Grammar School.
For south Birmingham and Solihull families that cluster is the realistic part of Warwickshire. See our guide to Alcester and our guide to all six.

A small intake is a competitive signal
Parents look at a school admitting 120 and read it as intimate. In admissions terms it means something else: the ranked list gets served less far down.
Two schools can set a similar qualifying score and produce quite different outcomes, purely because one admits 150 children and the other 120. The same is true of in-year vacancies later on, because a smaller school has fewer places to fall free.
So when you are comparing schools, put the admission number next to the score rather than looking at the score alone. It is one of the few numbers that genuinely tells you something about your odds, and it is published.
