Why this pack works

  • One topic, taken all the way, 140 questions on Arithmetic alone, not a handful buried in a mixed paper.
  • Every wrong option traces to one specific, named mistake, not just marked “incorrect”.
  • Marks itself. You never hand-mark 140 questions or line up an answer key.
  • Difficulty climbs Bronze → Silver → Gold inside every test.
  • Written for the 11+ maths syllabus every board tests, not tied to one region's schools.
  • Works on any device, and the printable PDF is included at no extra cost.

Try a free timed maths test first.

Twenty questions in twenty minutes, in the GL format, marked the moment your child finishes, with a breakdown of which topics need work. No sign-up.

Is this right for your child?

Buy it if

  • Your child keeps dropping marks on Arithmetic specifically
  • They have met the topic in class and need it to become automatic
  • You want 140 questions on one topic, not three buried in a mixed paper

Skip it if

  • They have never been taught Arithmetic, this tests, it does not teach
  • You want broad coverage before the exam, a mixed Maths Pack fits better

Sample explanations

This is what every wrong answer gets

Three real questions from the pack, with the explanation exactly as it appears in the mark scheme, one Bronze, one Silver, one Gold.

Q3BronzeRounding and Estimating

What is the number 47,382 when it is rounded to the nearest thousand?

A48000B47400C47380D50000E47000
Worked solution
1The thousands digit is 7, so the number sits between 47,000 and 48,000.
2The digit to its right is 3, which is less than 5.
3So the number rounds down to 47,000.
Where marks are lost
Every wrong option is a specific error: A Rounded up although the hundreds digit is below 5.  ·  B Rounded to the nearest hundred instead.  ·  C Rounded to the nearest ten instead.  ·  D Rounded to the nearest ten thousand instead.
Tip for parents

Only the hundreds digit decides; the 82 that follows it makes no difference.

Q12SilverDivision

A farmer packs 1,512 eggs into trays that hold 12 eggs each. How many trays does the farmer fill?

A126B1260C125D116E151
Worked solution
1Divide 1,512 by 12.
212 × 100 = 1,200, leaving 312 eggs.
312 × 26 = 312, so the total is 100 + 26 = 126 trays.
Where marks are lost
Every wrong option is a specific error: B Wrote an extra zero at the end.  ·  C Left the last 12 eggs as a remainder rather than a full tray.  ·  D Dropped ten in the tens column while dividing.  ·  E Divided by 10 instead of by 12.
Tip for parents

Taking out a hundred lots of 12 first keeps the remaining division small.

Q3GoldOrder of Operations

A club charges £8 for each adult and £5 for each child. One evening 34 adults and 46 children attend, and the club pays £150 to hire the hall. How much money does the club have left?

A£502B£272C£230D£652E£352
Worked solution
1The adults pay 34 × £8 = £272.
2The children pay 46 × £5 = £230.
3Together that is £272 + £230 = £502.
4Taking off the hall: £502 − £150 = £352.
Where marks are lost
Every wrong option is a specific error: A Forgot to pay for the hall.  ·  B Counted the adults only.  ·  C Counted the children only.  ·  D Added the hall cost instead of paying it.
Tip for parents

Both ticket types are multiplied out before anything is added or taken away.

How we check

We check the answers before you have to.

Most 11+ material asks you to take the answer key on trust. Ours is machine-checked and the check is tied to the questions by a content hash, edit a question and the build refuses to produce the pack until it has been verified again. That is a gate in the build, not a promise on a sales page.

Every answer re-solvedAll 140 questions were solved again from scratch by a separate check and compared with the stated answer. All 140 agreed.
Every wrong option namedEach of the four wrong options traces to one specific misconception, so a wrong answer tells you which mistake was made.
Checked against the whole rangeQuestions and diagrams are compared across every pack we sell, so nothing you buy twice is the same question twice.

FAQs

Which exam is this for?

GL Assessment, FSCE and Quest. The 11+ maths syllabus is national, Arithmetic is on the syllabus for all of them. What differs is format. Every question here is five-option multiple choice against the clock, which mirrors GL and CEM-style papers directly. If your child sits a written-answer paper such as CSSE in Essex or an independent school's own, use these to build topic fluency and speed, then rehearse setting out working on that school's past papers.

Is this one topic only?

Yes, deliberately. All 140 questions are Arithmetic, spread across 8 sub-topics, so a weak area gets drilled properly rather than meeting three questions on it in a mixed paper.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It's a link that opens in the browser on a laptop, tablet or school Chromebook. The PDF is a normal download.

How long do I have access?

Permanently. It's a one-off purchase, not a subscription, and the PDF is yours to keep and reprint.
